For thirteen years I worked as a cardiovascular nurse technician at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. and Baptist South Hospital as a patient care technician. I returned to school in 2006 to complete my undergraduate degree in Biology. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Troy University in May of 2010. I continued my education and ended my healthcare career in fall of 2010, in order to pursue my graduate degree in Biology In July of 2013, I obtained my Master's of Science in Biological and Environmental Sciences from Troy University. I received my Alternative Masters Degree in Secondary Education in December of 2016.
I have 3 years of experience as a graduate teaching assistant and 3 years of experience as an adjunct instructor in Biology Department at Troy University - courses taught include: Human Anatomy and Physiology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Principles of Biology, and Immunology.
I also have five years of experience as the 7th and 8th grade science teacher at Banks School.
I am married to the love of my life. I am a mother of three (two girls and a boy) and grandmother of six beautiful girls. I graduated in 2016 from Auburn University Montgomery with an Alternative Master's in Secondary Science Education. I am starting my 6th year teaching 7th and 8th grade science at Banks School.
I am originally for Asheville, N.C. and moved to Atlanta in 1996. I lived in Atlanta, Ga. for 11 years and moved to Troy in 2007. My husband and I live in Troy, Alabama with our cats, Thunder and Subie.
I am a life-long learner and am living my dream as a science teacher. I love teaching students at this age! Watching students come to an understanding of science concepts brings my joy, especially when I see a student achieve the "Aha" moment. I encourage all of my students to become life-long learners and pursue their dreams. I am here to help them to achieve that goal.

Students will be graded daily on the material that that has been covered in the current unit. These grades are obtained as a result of group and individual participation. Students will also be graded on their analysis of our experiments. Students will also have quizzes, graded assessments and projects.

1st offense: verbal warning
2nd offense: break detention
3rd offense: parent contact/ break detention
4th offense: parent contact and conference scheduled.
5th offense: office referral
